The piston filling mechanism is easily operated by twisting the knob at the end of the barrel counter-clockwise to extend the piston, submerging the nib in ink, then screwing the knob tight to retract the piston, drawing ink into the pen straight from the bottle—no need for cartridges or a converter! Be careful, operating the piston while ink is in the pen will cause ink to leak out of the pen.

This pen comes with one blue ink cartridge. The cartridge comes inside the barrel of the pen. If the cartridge seems to be stuck inside the barrel, try gently tapping the barrel against a hard surface a few times to dislodge it.
Note: The metal body of this pen can be corroded by prolonged contact with ink. Be sure to clean off any ink that gets onto its surface, and do not use it as an eyedropper pen.

TWSBI's belief is that it is important to allow the user to disassemble and reassemble the pen and completely experience the traditional aspects of owning and using a fountain pen. These pens also come packaged with a wrench and silicone grease. Neither of these accessories are intended to be used immediately, as they are for long-term care and maintenance. Additionally, please use extra care if you choose to disassemble the nib and feed, as the feed is very fragile.
You may notice a white substance on your 580AL or 580ALR pistons. This is bearing grease, and must not be removed during cleanings, or replaced by silicone grease.
Measuring 3.75" when closed and only 3.4" with the cap off, the Liliput is the smallest of Kaweco's pens and one of the smallest fountain pens in the world. The cap screws onto the back of the pen, extending it to 4.9" when in use for a comfortable writing experience despite the compact size.
The Brass Wave Liliput is crafted of lead-free ECO BRASS using sustainable materials and processes. The brass will develop a beautiful patina as it's used.
